HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco became aware of the fragility of our planet at a very early moment in his life. His desire to act, to protect it more effective can be seen in his continuously growing commitment, not only at the principality Monaco but also worldwide.
Actual facts: In April 2006 he guided an expedition of sleigh dogs to the North Pole, to awaken public opinion in view of the global warming. He became the first current leader of a state to reach the North Pole. In June 2006 his Highness established his own foundation dedicated to environmental protection and sustainable development. Its objective is the care and development of initiatives and innovative solutions in the field of climate change, biodiversity and water. On April 22nd 2008 HSH Prince Albert II was awarded for his commitment in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development by the environmental program of the United Nations as “Champion of the Earth”.
